Today, Holy Sacrament’s missionaries are busily doing last-minute preparation for their mission trips to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic tomorrow morning. The teams have prepared for this week-long mission since the beginning of the year by engaging in a number of planning meetings, fund-raising events, receiving financial support from family members, friends, and congregation members,  and packing several items needed for the trips. The team presented to the church last Sunday, June 3, what they hope to achieve while in the two countries.

While in Jamaica, the mission team, led by Rose Williams (President of Friends Reaching Friends, our church’s Mission and Outreach Ministry Group) and Sonia Blake, will offer Vacation Bible School at the Granville Place of Safety for Girls, in Falmouth. Simultaneously, there will be a medical part of the mission, being led by Dr. John Williams. Doctors and nurses will offer free medical services to the community. The Rev. Maud Paraison is the Spiritual Director of the Jamaican Mission Team.

As I lead the spiritual aspect of the Dominican Republic mission, the team, which is led by Karen Eddy, is divided into three sections:
1. Pediatric Medical, led by Dr. Pat Rowe King
2. Construction of a cafe and a book store for the Iglesia de San Juan Bautista (St. John the Baptist Church), Bonao, and
3. Vacation Bible School

[Two half-day sessions each day].
