Hello Everyone:
We arrived safely in Belize on Saturday, June 6, at about 11:40 a.m. (1:40 p.m. EST). Although we left Miami International Airport almost an hour late, we were able to make it up in the air, arriving in Belize just 15 minutes later than the scheduled time. This year, we found that the process through Immigration and the Customs Department went expeditiously and smoothly. It was a blessing!
We were greeted at the Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize City by the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese, The Right Reverend Philip Wright, Fr. Eric Richards, a priest in the Diocese of Belize, and Lillieth Parks-Soberanis, Chair of the Diocesan Companion Relationship Committee. Soon we were off to the Best Western Biltmore Hotel on the south side of Belize City. The 20 minute bus ride brought back scenes of nostalgia, while, I am sure, it was a new experience for the 21 new missionaries who are joining us this year.
After lunch, the team began to unpack and assort the 125 boxes that were shipped, and 23 duffel bags that we took with us. The packing was a long process. To quote one of the missionaries, “I have never seen so much stuff in my life.” It is truly an out-pouring of God’s blessings for the missionary efforts He has entrusted us to do on His behalf.
We ended with a Team Meeting in which we shared Sunday’s schedule with the team and handed the name tags to the missionaries. This was followed by dinner after which we retired for the night.
