The following prayer was sent to me by my friend, Tom Ungleich, one of the missionaries to the Dominican Republic. I felt it was such a beautiful prayer that I wanted to share it.

FINAL BONAO MISSION PRAYER

Dear God, we thank You for the opportunity to have participated in the Church’s 2011 mission to the city of Bonao in the Dominican Republic.  We are very grateful that You granted success to the mission’s medical, minor construction, and religious education components.  We acknowledge and thank You for the presence of Your Holy Spirit, who protected all the team members from injury, major illness, or other calamity, and guided them safely back to their homes.

As reported by St. Luke, Your Son, Jesus Christ, called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He then sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. We ask that You will bless our recent humble attempt to serve you and to continue the work that our Lord commanded his followers to undertake.

We also ask that You will please bless Your servants at the Dominican Episcopal Church, many of whom have also become our friends, so that they may continue Your holy work.

Finally, as we return to our ordinary lives, we ask that You not allow us to forget those sick and lame children of Bonao whom we treated, and we ask that You please send Your Holy Spirit to dwell among them and comfort them.

We most respectfully ask these things in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Amen.
